Our school district is a Priority School District. My students are made up a diverse set of backgrounds and include English language learners, special education students, and those receiving free or reduced lunches. My students need both wobble chairs and additional seating. Most importantly my students love coming to school, learning, and being in fourth grade. Having these classroom items will allow my students to stay focused on their learning. Minimizing distractions and increasing their focus is optimal for helping Fourth Graders learn and grow.
My Project
My students need Wobble chairs to address their need to move more often during a lesson, without disrupting the learning of other students nearby.
The goal of this project is to meet the sensory needs of the children in my fourth-grade classroom.
These chairs are meant to let children work off energy while still attending to a lesson. I will use these chairs so that students can wiggle a little without disturbing the other children in the group.
I blend instruction with frequent brain breaks and use movement to stimulate their minds and bodies. However, students still need to stimulate their senses during lessons and the Wobble Chairs would help with that because the chairs need to stay balanced. Integrating these sensory tools into the classroom will make a big difference in their daily learning activities.
