Comfortable Seating While Eating

Help me give my students a soft place to sit when we are in whole group on the carpet. Even though we are on the carpet for a short time, the floor is very hard.

My Project

My students are amazing and they can come up with some fantastic ideas during whole group instruction on the carpet. As a Kindergarten teacher, there is no better feeling than when my students have that A-HA! the moment when they finally understand a concept or you see their thinking as they come up with their brilliant idea. My students love Heggerty, our phonemic awareness instruction. This curriculum is based on auditory and kinesthetic learning. Having comfortable seating on the floor will help my students create those moments, focus on our task at hand, and have fun while learning. I am requesting those seats for that reason.

In a Title 1 school, there are always challenges that these students face both in and out of the classroom.

One of the most prevalent obstacles is hunger. A student cannot focus on their learning if they are hungry. Their hunger eventually becomes a distraction to their own learning! This distraction becomes detrimental to the classroom environment as students become cranky when they haven't eaten. The snacks I am requesting will help curb that distraction and enable my students to better concentrate on their learning.
