My students come to school with smiles each day, ready to engage in learning and their excitement is what keeps me going each day! I want to ensure that their learning experience is fun, yet always meaningful.
We have 3 Hokki Stools in the classroom right now and they are hooked!!
They love center rotations and the ability to change where they are sitting and learning in the classroom. I have a big rug area and they love receiving instruction from that area of the room. It gives them an opportunity to get out of their seats and sit on the floor with a clipboard and learn in a way that is comfortable for them.
I have already seen a huge amount of shift in their WANT to learn since the beginning of the school year, and I'm hoping I can make that change happen in as many students as possible each year. I'd love to keep adding to my flexible seating as the year continues!
My Project
I teach in a school that is in the process of moving towards 21st century learning in the classroom and I would like to make adjustments to my classroom. With that being said, I am slowly integrating flexible seating in my classroom to make a smooth transition from the traditional tables and chairs.
These Hokki Chairs are known as an "ergonomic" stool that allows kids to keep moving, while also sitting still.
The base of this still allows for movement in all directions, which is essential when kids develop. It will increase their physical movement and their intellectual processes. My students will use these stools throughout the day during group work, reading groups, and daily instruction. The Jellyfish Chairs have small yoga balls underneath to allow for comfortable seating as well. I have used Hokki Stools before, but am excited to try Jellyfish Chairs for the first time!
