I have 27 amazing, energetic and enthusiastic students. We work hard every day to build our classroom community and create a positive learning environment for everyone. In our classroom, we embrace differences and strive to learn more about each other by sharing events about our lives outside of school.
Reading is extremely important in our room.
We are serious about literature and have ongoing conversations about books throughout the day. Students often recommend books to each other as well as to myself. The children enjoy checking out a stack of books from the library and proudly displaying their finds on and around their desk. We have definitely found our love of books as a common thread and ongoing theme in our community. We have ongoing conversations and running jokes about the many books we have read together and independently. Our classroom has become a group of readers!
My Project
I use the wiggle seats in my classroom to occupy by busy-bodied students. While sitting in a seat that allows them to move while still remaining at their desk they are able to concentrate more on the task they are doing. More of my students could use these wiggle seats, so I am hoping to fulfill that need for such students.
When we have read aloud time and book group, my students gather in the front of the room on my carpet.
When we sit together at these times, the students feel extra special and get extra special attention, which is only exemplified by these comfortable seating cushions. The students like to have the flexibility of laying on their stomachs and resting on them, or sharing one with a friend, so I would like to give more students the special treat of this comfy seating while we get to chat about books!
