We are a Title I school with all students either walking or being dropped off in the morning. Breakfast is free for all students, with a snack in the afternoon. Many of my students are also enrolled in a backpack program to take food home with them over the weekend.
My students come in every morning, ready to learn and have fun.
They are so smart and funny. Many of them love to read and do work involving some kind of drawing or coloring. We also do a lot of whole group learning and creating.
Many of my kids come from home lives they cannot control. However, when they come to class, I can give them the love and attention they need to succeed in whatever it is they want to do.
My Project
Many of my students need to move around constantly. This is not possible with the traditional classroom chairs. I have many students who need to bounce, kick, wiggle, and move in some way just to focus.
Through having a flexible seating classroom, my students will better be able to focus in class without the distractions of others needing to be out of their seats moving around.
I know my students would love having options as to what they would like to sit on to learn. They would also love to have some place to sit other than the traditional school chair and the floor when practicing our stamina reading.
