I have 120 students that I work with daily. I am a special education teacher that spends my entire day in the general education classrooms, allowing many of our students with IEPs to stay in the general education classroom. More than 50 percent of the student population is free or reduced lunch.
In my classroom, my students work independently and in groups.
Our current seating doesn't allow for easy transitions. The students are confined to traditional desks that are uncomfortable for High School students. Having alternative seating options in my classroom will help the students be able to focus on the lessons each day.
My Project
The Kore Patented Adjustable height Wobble Chair will allow the students to work at their desk independently or work in small groups with their classmates in a minute notice. Because the chair's height adjusts, all of my students will be able to use this flexible seating option safely. I have many students with ADHD and Other Health Impaired that benefit from being able to rock or fidget at their desk. Having the wobble chair would allow them the comfort of sitting at their desk, while not standing out like a sore thumb to their classmates (like they do on exercise balls). The portable lap desk/laptop stand allows the students to sit on the floor or in a chair while taking notes during class time. My classroom has a class set of chromebooks and we use them daily. The students who sit in the bean bag chairs or ottomans are lacking a hard surface to sit their chromebooks on.
