Most of my students are from low income and poor households without a lot of parental support. They do not often encourage their children to read. It can be a struggle to get them to enjoy reading. I want them to love reading because of its importance. I want them to be relaxed while reading.
Who doesn't like to get comfortable with a good book?
The more cozy students are, the less anxiety they will have. Each year teachers require more and more from their students. Students are asked to do a lot. Let's let help them relax while learning.
My Project
My goal is to encourage my students to read more. My hopes are that the students will be more inclined to read if they have some new comfortable seating options. Research shows that students focus better in different types of seats, not just typical student chairs. A previous educator in my school had success using flexible seating options. I hope to have the same benefits as well.

Students in my class always raced to the one comfortable chair I had last year. I am excited at the opportunity to add some cozy new seats and flair to my new classroom full of students this year!
