Comfortable Seating Choices and Smart Board for My Students!
My students need flexible seating options where they can be comfortable and engaged in their best reading and instruction. My classroom has an AppleTV in place of a smart board but we need a computer.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from all over the world! When they enter American schools for the first time (as immigrants or Kindergarteners) they are underprepared and often often underserved. Students at my school receive free breakfast and lunches due to economic hardships they face. Please help us make our English classroom a place where we can excel, feel comfortable, and receive many of the things we deserve.
My students are bright and eager to read, they're particularly fond of reading engaging nonfiction books throughout the classroom.
While they love reading throughout the room we do not have the furniture or funding to support a comfortable classroom for such activities. I want to setup my classroom with flexible seating to support our 21st Century Learners.
My Project
After having the opportunity to put all of these items in my classroom, my students will have the opportunity to read in a comfortable, safe setting. Good readers, read 21 min. a day (on average), this means students need a space where they feel comfortable to read, ask questions, and be vulnerable.
These seating arrangements and materials will allow children to comfortably read in our classroom and receive one-on-one instruction while sitting at furniture designed for this.
I am so excited to set students up where they can sit at our kidney table to receive one-on-one instruction, move to a special reading carpet or comfy seats to read independently. We will even have a designated space to sit while participating in new instruction and group learning.
