These kiddos have really shown an interest in being active participants in their learning. They are really meeting the challenge of rising to the occasion when working with each other to expand learning. This has really proved to benefit the class as a whole. 5th grade is such an amazing and profound year for our students to develop a love for learning, and it is our responsibility to plant that seed.
Respect of themselves and their peers, integrity in their work and their participation, and a responsibility to accountability has raised the bar in our classroom environment--my teaching included!
I love how they call each other out about expectations. It is such a powerful tool they utilize in order to demand the best from themselves and their classmates. They really work to learn from mistakes and show that they want to make growth! I see this in their goal setting and their effort to ask questions for clarification.
It isn't difficult to see these 5th graders raising the bar wherever they go next year. I feel that they can meet any goals or expectations given the proper facilitation and opportunity to struggle through their mistakes.
My Project
This carpet will really accent the reading area as a staple in our room where we have flexible seating and a comfy window bench for students to sit and work. We use the area as a place for students to sit in comfy chairs, on the window bench, and on the floor while reading aloud together.
This carpet is going to transform our reading area into a designated space for silent reading, read aloud, and comfortable working space.
Even in 5th grade, students enjoy being in a comfortable space and this carpet will really accent that in the room. The Comfortable Reading Area is a space in our room that students visit in small groups and individually to work and read. I have a small reading group that really loves going to the reading area for our read aloud. This carpet would really make the space.
