This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My class are second graders in need of some immersive learning. They are lovable, energetic, excited, and fun-loving. They, however, need a lot of support to grow. I am working with a lot of struggling readers in a low income area at a Title-1 school and as amazing as their energy is, it sometimes causes a problem in the learning environment.

That is why I am looking for something that will help direct that energy into a more productive and educational vein; to help them grow beyond their boundaries and flourish.

All 20 of my students deserve the chance to learn, unhindered by their struggles if possible.

Not only am I trying to overcome a few obstacles, but I am also a third year teacher trying to find my way to the best education that I can give. I feel I do not have what they need and that is why I'm here.

My Project

These items will give my students more freedom and options when doing independent work. They will not be confined to a desk and will be able to make a choice that does not involve a cold, hard floor.

The students will be seen scattered about the room working on math problems, reading books, writing, and so much more thanks to your gift to them; the gift of choice, comfort, and freedom.

I currently have an old, flat rug that is not comfortable. I have no pillows for my students to lounge and learn on. I want my students to feel comfortable while learning. They should feel safe and at home in their learning environment.
