My students need a foam mat to sit on during story time and direct instruction.

My students are a fantastic group of young people. They go through many struggles in their young lives, and have overcome many obstacles. My group of students are diverse and come from different backgrounds. Almost all of them come from low income homes. Some of them have disabilities. They attend the charter school because their families believe in our mission and want better for them. They have formed a love for learning and want to be at school. They work hard every day despite the difficult circumstances of their home life. Our curriculum is challenging and rigorous, but my students are tackling it with enthusiasm, and are grateful for the opportunities they are given. I am excited to come to school to learn and grow with them every day.
Our current mats have gotten too old and dirty to use anymore, so these are two new foam mats that will be utilized in two kindergarten classrooms. They will help my students learn where to sit and also allow us to use the mat as a learning tool.
Our whole day is spent sitting on our mat spots, so it is important my students are as comfortable as possible.
On the mat my students have assigned spots and a big enough square they can call their own. This helps us visualize personal space and respecting one another. We also do not have big enough classrooms to have tables or desks in. They enjoy the foam feeling and the bright colors.
