My students need a soft place to work, read and collaborate and a rug is the perfect place for them to sit comfortably.

My Students

I teach a range of both struggling learners and on target students with a variety of different needs.

My grade level classes require flexibility, variety, and several different workspace options on a daily basis.

I see them twice a day for 45 min. each and in that amount of time, we change up our activities 3-4 times, as that fits with their brain development needs and attention spans.

My intervention class is a co-taught class and the flexible workstations are essential to small group teaching that we typically do. These students benefit from the more individualized instruction and thrive in the type of environment that flexible seating allows.

My Project

Comfort is key when it comes to student learning and growth.

In my classroom, I have a number of flexible seating options as well as a designated social-emotional area but am in need of a few basics to complete the space.

By incorporating a rug into the room, it will provide a soft seating option for students as well as a work zone and area to collaborate. It also provides the feeling of a less sterile and safer environment in which to process emotions that they might be dealing with.

For all of these reasons and more, I think my classroom would greatly benefit from having a rug for students to use.
