I have learned in my career that not all students learn the same. Each student is individual and has diverse needs. I have also learned that they learn better when given choices. I like to give my students choices for seating throughout the room.
Students learn best when they are comfortable.
Some are comfy in a desk while others prefer to sit in a bean bag or on a pillow on the floor. Others need seats that allow for movement while they work.
My students love to sit all over the room to learn and work, both independently and in small groups. They love to sit on pillows, stability balls and on stools. Students are more likely to focus and give their absolute best if they are comfortable. Comfort also increases confidence, which is essential to student success. Comfort makes adults happy and it does the same for students!
Tables offer opportunities to collaborate in small groups that desks just do not offer.
My students love to work on projects together! Allowing students to share ideas and strategies benefits each and every student.
