My students need portable multi-use adjustable recliners, lap desks, a bungee cord chair, and tray tables for flexible seating options in order to be comfortable and put forth their best effort within their academic workshops!
We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to teach together in a co-teaching classroom! Our classroom has students of mixed levels and abilities where we develop individual strengths and gifts, with high and appropriate expectations for each child. We have found that our students are better able to demonstrate success within the classroom when we incorporate fun and energizing movement breaks, which enhances focus and the retention of more information from each lesson.
Our students would greatly benefit from an environment that provides them the opportunity to have comfort while learning, the power of making a choice where they feel they could demonstrate their best effort, as well as continuing to stimulate sensory input and movement.
My Project
Portable multi-use adjustable recliners, lap desks, a bungee cord chair, and tray tables would make a significant difference in the lives of our students. We strongly believe that our students learn best when they are given choice and are in the most comfortable learning environment! Flexible seating allows students to bounce, lean, twist, kick, fidget, wobble, roll, stand, kneel, and sit to suit their needs.
Children today need to be provided with a learning environment where they feel supported, empowered, and understood.
There are many benefits to having a flexible seating atmosphere, such as built in movement breaks, so there is more time on task because students are using excess energy, increased motivation and engagement, improved behavior, and accountability. Comfortable students are calm focused, and productive!
