The students entering my classroom in a few weeks will be fresh, new 2nd graders! I cannot wait to see their sweet faces and new personalities. I love that 2nd graders are still so sweet and excited about coming to school.
The students come in with an array of learning abilities.
Each of them need something different and learn in a variety of ways! It's such a thrill to watch them learn, grow, and develop relationships with each other. My favorite part of teaching 2nd grade is when that light bulb lights up above their heads. The face they make when they understand a concept being taught. It is gratifying to see that expression.
My Project
Flexible seating is the new, fun, and supportive way of learning provided to students. It allows students to choose where they want to learn and which way would benefit them the most. The students have an array of ways to learn in our classroom and these items will be used to add to the variety. I've noticed through the use of flexible seating that students learning habits have improved.
The students become actively engaged and participate when I allow them to choose their desired seating.
The stools I'm requesting are going to be added to our standing tables. They will provide students another choice of flexible seating. The stools will provide seating for the students who wish to sit at a taller table. It will also provide seating for students who wish to stand at the tall tables but need a break. The stools can be used throughout the classroom as well for group time discussions, group reading in front of the class, and more.
The cushions I am requesting add an additional choice for the students who need to get some wiggles out while learning. The cushions can be used in the chairs and also on the floor. I know these materials will make a huge difference in the learning that takes place in the classroom.
