Help me give my students a comfortable space to charge, store, or access their Chromebooks in our classroom. I believe every student deserves the chance to succeed; and for a one-to-one classroom, power cords are extremely important.
I have some wonderful students in my class. A majority of them enjoy participating in various after school activities, as well as the activities we complete in class. Almost 45% of my students participate in after school activities!
I also have a large number of students who like to read.
60% of my students said, at one time, they enjoyed reading. However, they only enjoyed reading if they were able to choose their books or they quiet space to read/work in.
My students want to succeed and I want to do everything I can to set them up for success after high school. I want them to know that their voices are important, and they can do anything they wish.
My Project
I am an English teacher, and the majority of my students are freshmen in high school. A large number of my students are also involved in after school activities and will forget to charge their Chromebooks at home. As a one-to-one school, every student receives a Chromebook and a charger. However, a large number of my student's Chromebooks will die throughout the class period and need to be recharged. My goal is to have enough power cords, charging carts, and seats for students to successfully use their Chromebooks for classroom activities.
My class sizes range from 15 students to 30 students, and about 35% of my overall students will need to charge their Chromebooks during class.
Each day we use our Chromebooks for classwork or activities, it takes about 5-6 minutes before everyone has a Chromebook charged and ready to work. I only have 8 outlets in my classroom currently. We completed an online project last week, and I ran out of outlets for my students to use. Students were sitting all across my room charging and working.
I want my students to be comfortable when they are completing online assignments or activities; instead of being spread out across the room. Please help me create a positive and comfortable learning environment for my students to succeed.
