Our school is a rapidly growing, low income school. Our school is a Title I school. We serve a variety of students who come from various cultures and backgrounds. With the rapid growth we are trying to reach all students needs through various means. The students in my class are loving, smart, and kind. They love to read and several of them recently received perfect attendance awards because they are at school and on time every day! This project help them be more comfortable and organized.
My Project
I believe that if a student is comfortable then they will focus longer and do better work. Lap desks would allow the students to work on the floor and move around the room. In elementary the students do not want to sit at a desk all day. When doing individual work they often ask to work on the floor. This is a challenge sometimes without a flat surface to work on. The storage drawers would also help with organization. I have 2 different math and science classes. These drawers would help the students have a spot to store their folders and notebooks while the other class in in the room. The last item is a drafting stool. This would be used during whole group instruction and while monitoring the class.
