My Students

My students are the future.....and we have a lot to be excited about. I teach 8th grade students at a very diverse and exciting school. We have a lot of great programs which encourage students to find their passions and work hard to achieve their goals.

Each year I get a new group of students, and the thing I love the most is getting to know each of them.

I'm excited to see who I'll meet this year. Let the new school year begin!

My Project

I visited the downtown Austin Public Library the other day and I was in awe of the space. I actually commented to my husband...."I want to go back to school just so I can come down here to study." This, of course, made me think about my own classroom.

We all have different needs for learning, and I would like to let my students decide what works best for them.

I want to try a flexible seating approach this year using bean bags and stools. The best way to describe it is a "Starbucks" atmosphere. There will still be desks and tables, but I'd like to give students the ability to choose where and how they sit. In my mind, I see groups of different heights, numbers, sizes collaborating in a setting that works for them.
