Our school has a warm and positive environment that focuses on student learning. We partner with parents and the community to help best serve our children. We are a PBIS school that focuses on positive behavior interventions. We are an under-resourced school, but love to find ways to get the students what they need for best practice.
This year, I have 19 students.
These students are smart, energetic and eager to learn about all things from animals to heroes and world leaders. During our read-alouds and small group time, they always show me how much information they already know about various topics.
My class loves reading, playing math games and practicing spelling using technology. It always amazes me how quickly they learn to operate different apps and programs on tablets and computers. Currently, we are needing another laptop that students can use. Using the computer is another wonderful way for children to practice at becoming a more fluent reader.
My Project
My First Grade class is asking for a small table and chairs where they can read and work. My kiddos have done a wonderful job learning all about informational text/non fiction books. They are busy reading our classrooms nonfiction books and researching their topics of choice. This table will be a place where the students can study and research, and then write down information. The class is currently sitting on bean bag chairs and using clip boards to bare on during this research time. I believe the table and chairs will be more conducive for learning and make it easier to write and work. And of course, the table and chairs will be easier to keep clean. In this project, I'm am also including some bins to store some of our books at the table. My Firsties appreciate you considering to give to this project and we thank you in advance.
