When I began teaching, my first classroom had no books for my students. Over the past four years I have purchased over 800 books for my students at my own expense. Each year, I try to buy new books to match my students' interests in order to motivate them to read. Unfortunately there are not enough bookcases in my room or within the school to support the display of these books. As a result many good books are simply stored in the closet, defeating their purpose! I am requesting a bookcase so that I can provide my students with a wider range of books that they would truly enjoy reading. I firmly believe that if these new books were displayed, my students would develop a true love for reading, which is ultimately priceless!
