This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are full of life, and they have a love for learning. They have set their goals for the school year, and they are ready to meet them! They take risks, challenge each other, and show up each day with a smile on their faces.
We've created a positive classroom culture by focusing on how we treat others, encouraging each other, and cheering each other on.
They enjoy mixing it up; some days they like to work in their desks, and others they use clipboards and find a spot in the room to work.
This group of students is truly special, and they hold a place close to my heart. Most of the students that attend our Title One school are from low-income households. I do my very best to provide every opportunity that I can for them.
My Project
Keeping students engaged is my top priority. When students are engaged, they are learning. By mixing up instruction, I like to call students to the carpet where we can have more face-to-face instruction. I've selected a rug to add to my classroom so that students can have an inviting space to join me at the front of the classroom. I've also selected stools for my students to sit on when they join me at my table. Chairs take up too much space, so the stools will allow me to add more students to my groups for specific small groups.
Many of my students don't have books at home; help me provide them with access to books both at school and at home.
My school has books, but they must be returned in good condition. I have selected durable book bags that will ensure my students have the ability to work on their reading skills at home as well!
