Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn and utilize the materials that I have in my classroom. This is my third year teaching 4th grade reading and writing and I am trying to build my classroom library with books that will meet the needs of all my students. I have a very diverse population of students that are on many different reading levels. They come from homes with hard-working parents that want them to succeed. They are very bright and come ready to learn every day!
My students have a love for reading new books and appreciate literature.
I try to read to them daily and expose them to as many different forms of literature that I can. With that being said, they love getting new books to add to our library. They were thrilled to take this photo since it was going to help get more supplies for our classroom.
My Project
These books have been carefully selected, by myself and my students. These books have peaked my students' interest and will be loved and well read. These books will help promote a love of reading in my classroom and possibly turn an uninterested student into a student eager for a chance to read.
I know that good quality literature is the stepping stone for lifelong learning and excitement through books.
As a third-year teacher, my classroom library is full of a lot of hand-me-downs and forgotten books. While this is effective my hope is for my students to have books with characters they know, and storylines they can relate to.
