The children I teach are energetic, wonderful, hardworking students.
They impress me every day with their awesome attitudes and desire to learn.
We are a Title I school. Most of our students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. Some families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. The student population is 33% Caucasian, 26% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 11% African American, and 28% other.
It is an honor to teach my students the skills they need in order to be successful in their academic career.
My Project
David Warlick, an early adopter and promoter of technology in the classroom said, "We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world." Part of my grant is a request for the students to have access to Kindle Fires in the classroom. The Kindle Fires would be used to promote literacy rich activities. The students would have access to multiple genres of books and be able to explore multiple applications to reinforce previously taught skills.
