Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an excited bunch who are always eager to learn new things.
While they all come from very different backgrounds and home lives, they are all the same in their dedication to school and learning.
My school resides in a neighborhood where many of the families are immigrants and speak languages other than English. Many of my students enter school speaking little to no English, but are excited to learn the language. Their different cultures help to make my classroom a diverse learning space for all.
My Project
We are requesting sets of books for book clubs. Our titles include The Worst Witch, Bunnicula, Breadcrumbs and more. As my students become avid readers, they are more and more interested in talking about their reading. As we begin book club, I want to give my students choice in what they read. These books will allow me to provide my students with options, so that they are able to choose a book that will be engaging and on their level.
These books will not only provide them with choice, but a chance to have meaningful, thoughtful discussions with their classmates.
As my students continue to build their love of reading, I want to continue building the classroom library for them.
