Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in our paperless classroom includes using a learning management system called Schoology and interactive websites such as Khan Academy or Learn Zillion. The idea behind this approach is to support multi-modal learning: reaching all students who are visual, auditory, and tactile learners
I teach students with various disabilities, who are eager learners that respond to 21st century learning.
They like to share their digital content and engage in social interaction. Learning is no longer a one-size-fits-all. My students are preparing to become learners for life. They enjoy creating PowerPoint and doing presentations. They like collaborating with their peers after a lesson or video or sharing their independent thinking in discussion boards or blogs. They love providing evidence for their opinions.
In addition, we belong to a school that follows a motto that "Students come first". We accommodate to all students of diverse backgrounds and support their needs in every way we can. Most of all, we have great admin support that follows the same vision.
My Project
Our students live in media-suffused environment. With these headphones, students will be able to access an abundance of information and the ability to collaborate on a global scale. Students will be able to pull up video news links to do research and any cloud-based-curriculum such as Learn Zillion. Students will also be able to take control of their learning and their own pace with Khan Academy or any differentiated task assigned to them. Overall with this project, my students will be able to effectively create and utilize information, media, and technology with ease. It also targets a great population of my students, who are mostly auditory learners.
This project is important because it takes our 21st-century classroom to the next step.
Not only does it give students an opportunity to create and think independently but it also allows them to reach others on a grander scale through blogs, news links, and virtual communication. Students will continue to stay informed, allowing them to be more environmentally self-aware.
