This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Their eyes get wide. Their mouths open in amazement. Excited kindergartners watch as the butterflies appear where tiny larva were. I saw this two years ago. I teach children who need to experience all they can this year. All the retained students were placed in one class. I want to offer them a thrilling learning experience.
I work in a Title One School. Many of my students have limited experiences. I would love to allow them to raise butterflies.
I would like to purchase the butterfly habitat and larvae for the class. I will have the children observe the growth, write or draw what they see and then we will write and draw a book about the life cycle.
This is not a huge proposal, but it is a huge learning experience. Your help will ensure that these children fully understand and remember the life cycle of a butterfly. I know that they will remember the opportunity. My son did this in Kindergarten over 15 years ago. It was one of his fondest memories.
