My students need a picnic table, butterfly nets and paint paper for an outdoor learning experience that teaches my Kindergarten students about butterflies and their life cycles.
My Kindergarten students are enthusiastic about learning! They are learning things for the very first time. So, it is important to make the goals and skills being taught as challenging and exciting as possible. My school is located in a rural farming community. The students are from lower to middle class families. We strive to make every child feel a part of our school family.
My personal goal is to make learning fun!
These students deserve the best educational foundation that will never be forgotten. I have taught Kindergarten for over 20 years, and I have found that they learn the best through manipulatives and hands-on projects. The enthusiasm that the students have for learning is contagious! It is what drives my teaching strategies. I like to approach each year with fresh ideas and new techniques that will create a love for learning.
My Project
Most of our projects and activities are conducted indoors in our classroom. We are not equipped for a learning environment outside of our classroom. But, the picnic table, butterfly nets and paint paper for painting outdoors would be a great beginning for a learning center outdoors. Presently, we do not have any picnic tables where learning can take place. The butterfly nets would allow each child to have an active role in catching and observing the butterflies. The students would paint the butterflies that they observed outside. It would be an easy clean up too!
Our school has the perfect setting for an outdoor learning center!
Our setting is a wooded rural area with a large playground area. It is a quiet area where learning can take place. As a county school, funds are limited. The Kindergartners and the entire school would benefit from an outdoor learning center, and we would be very appreciative.
