My students need Lenovo Chromebooks to level the playing field with schools who receive more funding. Our goal is to provide equal educational opportunities to each child, no matter the household income.
My third grade classroom is full of 20 lively, energetic, and SMART students! As a teacher in a low income school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. I want my students to have the same educational opportunities despite these challenges.
I teach at a Title I school in Oklahoma where 78% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
With the diversity of my students comes the need for a diverse classroom setting. We consider our classroom our home, and we strive to make our home a welcome and successful place for anyone who enters. Creating this environment makes my students enjoy school and enjoy coming every day!
My Project
The use of technology in our classroom is a daily occurrence. Our school currently shares one computer lab, and finding time for each class to attend throughout the week is a challenge. Our computers are used for research based projects, benchmarks, Reading Counts points, and educational games such as Reflex Math. With the limited number of computers available to our students, they aren't getting the appropriate amount of time to makes gains in areas such as multiplication.
By donating to our cause, you will help our students make academic gains in subject areas such a math, and also better prepare students for the technology based world we live in.
Studies have shown that children learn better with challenges that excite. Our school has generously purchased a license for Reflex Math, which is proven to help students learn and retain multiplication facts through games tailored to their learning. To be successful, students must have access to the program a minimum of three days per week. Our current schedule does not allow for that. Our dream is to have enough Chromebooks so that each student can learn at his/her own pace.
