This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a Kindergarten class this year in a mid-city classroom in Southern California. It’s been extremely challenging trying to get all my working up to grade level standards. For this reason, I would like to implement some new learning games to be used during center time. This would help me be to be able to differentiate the learning. I will be able to structure my teaching into groups to best meet the needs of my students. We will make tremendous growth this year.

My Project

We are requesting an engineering set and word building activities. My students are mostly struggling readers who are not working on grade level at this time. This affects their self esteem. I believe that learning should be fun and that a child should feel good about going to kindergarten. This is why I would like to add some more games to my classroom. So, that the children can learn by having fun to bring up their self esteem and to make sure they want to come to school.

I want my students to come and build with the new LEGO’s, to play with the popcorn sight word game, to show me that they are improving on reading their sight words.
