My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration! To enhance my students' education, we need the ability to hook up their personal devices to a power source.
Some forget to charge the devices, and many use them in the majority of their classes. We can't move everyone to sit near one of the four wall outlets.
My Project
Last year, students received personal devices which we use every single day. As more and more teachers integrate the Surfaces in their lessons, the problem we face is batteries running out of juice. This week, I moved my classroom around and created group learning pods. We complete a lot of group projects and webquests in class and cannot complete them if students can't use their Surfaces. I only have 4 outlets in my classroom so need power strips with both outlets and usb connections, and we need long cords since most power cords and phone chargers are not of sufficient length. About 8-10 years ago I bought a class set of Band of Brothers, the book, we read in my elective, World Studies. Time has taken its toll, and I need to replace deteriorating copies.
