This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My third-grade students are eager to learn. They are curious, creative, and have great imaginations even though we are a Title I school in a high poverty neighborhood.
School is a safe place and I do my best to make my classroom fun and exciting.
Most of my students live in public housing. Their neighborhoods are rough and school is a place for them to be safe. My class is mostly African American children who face a lot of challenges.
My job, as a teacher, is to help them overcome these challenges and become the amazing adults I know they can become.
My Project
My school is a turnaround arts school. That means we are learning how to combine the arts with academics. I am asking for canvases, paint, brushes, and aprons. We will be painting ecosystems. For this lesson students will create a unique animal and its ecosystem. They will decide what adaptations their animal needs to survive in their ecosystem.
Painting helps my students to grow academically, emotionally, and socially!
Please help us to get these necessary supplies. Students need more time in class to be creative and I don't have the supplies that we need to achieve this goal.
The smiles on their faces and how much their confidence grows by being given this opportunity is amazing, please help us! The last time my kids demonstrated amazing creativity and kindness to each other. I want this year's class to have the same opportunity. Thank you
