Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are my everything. We are a K-6th school and I teach art to all of the 1st through 6th graders. We don't have to teach kinder....yet. Our students come from many different ethnic and financial backgrounds. We are a Title I school with more than 80% of our students receiving free or reduced lunches.
Fostering creativity helps students develop mentally, socially, and emotionally and creating art can boost young children's ability to analyze and problem-solve.
I want the very best for my students in every way, not just when it comes to creating art.
Many of our students are still developing the social and emotional skills they will need as they grow into adolescences and I do more than just teach art! I also host small groups in my room for students that are struggling with those interpersonal skills with their peers and/or adults. I am consistently working with my students to foster things like kindness, persistence and imagination in order to be better life long learners and members of their community.
My Project
The use of printing is almost a daily necessity in my classroom. Between articles about artists, exploration/practice worksheets, step by step directions or other visual resources used at the tables, color printing is imperative in order to truly inspire my students.
Using the All-in-one Printer in my classroom, students will have access to color examples instead of black and white only.
The ability to scan will allow me to use references directly from our books, as well as create copies at a moments notice. Also, being able to look up a visual reference for them on the computer and printing it out for them will be a tremendous boost in their creativity output. Most of my students struggle with tapping in to imagination without a visual to reference. Having a color printer in my classroom room will significantly impact my students!
