Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.
They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in our newly established distance remote learning platform.
As of March 17th, my students have been learning from home. School will be closed due to the COVID-19 virus for the rest of the school year. This presents a challenge, as most of my students do not have access to supplies in their homes. Some of my students don't have the ability to learn online. Many depend on worksheet packets and whatever books they have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners.
My Project
No pandemic will stop my students from learning the skills they need to be successful in life. My students were learning how to read, write, and do simple addition and subtraction before school closures. Therefore, it is very important that they have the resources to help them complete assignment in a colorful and vivid way as they used to in the regular school setting to brighten their distance learning time.
These are materials that the students could use at home during this crisis.
Students will be able to color their pictures with crayons, paints and markers in their journals as a way to express their assignments and emotions.
