We are a public high school with a diverse student body that is growing with each school year. Our students are in ninth through twelfth grade (ages fourteen to eighteen). We have over three thousand students, including kids with special needs as well as intellectually and physically challenged students. This is the only high school in our town and we offer a full range of classes and electives. In order to maintain a rich curriculum with authentic materials for our students, we seek donations from DonorsChoose.org to help supplement our resources.
My Project
If it weren't for the humble paintbrush, some of the world's greatest artists might never have discovered their amazing talents. The simplest of supplies can make the greatest difference in the art classroom, especially for those students who cannot afford to buy their own.
I am requesting acrylic and tempera paints in basic colors and brushes to teach my students color mixing techniques.
With these resources, I can stretch our class budget funds further, making sure that all students have access to quality art materials, as well as a rich and diverse range of projects and lessons. Students will gain new skills, such as color mixing, brushwork, and painting techniques with exciting new class projects. These lessons will be paired with cultural and art history lessons to expand students' knowledge of the art world and they will have the opportunity to explore their own creative ideas.
