Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 9 students on the Autism Spectrum in my self-contained class. They are in Third Grade and Fourth Grade. My students receive instruction in all academic areas that include Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Music, Art and PE.
My class is full of bright students who are verbal and non-verbal.
They all communicate and understand content and social cues in different ways. Visuals are a big part of how they communicate and learn.
They also learn by doing and manipulating their own materials. Each student has the chance to develop their abilities at their pace and through being exposed to many different situations and skills.
My Project
These materials will give me the freedom to create my own materials for my students. Especially for those that are non-verbal and need pictures and communication devices to express themselves. It will also help the parents at home so that they don't have to laminate everything.
With these materials, I will create individualized visuals for each student.
These materials will help my students visualize what they are doing and learning, will help them to communicate their wants and needs and will help them comprehend the topics covered in class.
