This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first through third grade teacher in a self-contained classroom at a public school that offers a Montessori and traditional education in an underserved, high needs community.
As a public Montessori school, we strive to create a community where social/emotional health, knowledge, and peace are a priority.
My students are thoughtful, creative, and curious children who need love, a healthy community, and proper learning resources to realize their full potential.

My Project
With these Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, my students will be able to improve the look of their history, math and language assignments. For instance, the students use colored pencils to draw the hands on a paper representation of a clock. When a student is learning how to tell time, she is shown how to use red for the hour hand and blue for the minute hand. Colored pencils are also used to create a book of fraction pieces. Students will shade in the halves, thirds, quarters, etc. all the way to the tenths. The students also use the colored pencils for parts of speech. For example, a large black triangle represents the noun. When a student writes a naming word, she draws a large black triangle above the word to show that she understands it is a noun. Once the work is complete, it looks beautiful.
