I teach reading and content to a group of 48 first and second graders with my two partner teachers in a rural Maine community. Our children are energetic and colorful learners and they want a colorful learning environment. Our building does not have a color copier to liven up and attract student resources and tools. I believe our students would benefit from being able to use colorful resources, not only to help them learn to organize but also to attract and engage. Thank you for your support!
Children are naturally drawn to things that are colorful. The ability to print and copy in color will allow students to work on organization, and will also help them create reference charts and posters. In addition, it will broaden our ability to provide students with colorful resources for their content learning and will allow us to print student work and pictures in color for portfolios and parents.
For some students, colorful resources and tools will mean the difference between engagement and disengagement in their learning as it will hold their attention and peek their interest.
Having a color printer in my classroom will also allow me to provide these things to my students in real time, without having to wait for planning or prep time, so students will instantly be able to access their learning artifacts.
