This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is Pre-K through Sixth grade with almost 200 students. Despite varied ability levels, my students are from an area of dire need. They reside in a community that is poverty stricken and homes in which parents work multiple jobs to make ends meet and survive by way of governmental assistance. 100% of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch due to their economic standings. More specifically my four year olds have a desire to be academic scholars despite their background and living conditions. Learning's a requirement to better their lives.
My Project
My kindergarten students would use the colored printer for center activities and weekly assessments. My students are at the age where the foundation of education is being set and defined. One of the objects that I must teach deals with shapes and colors. My students are broken into groups of four. Each group has a color and shape. The colored printer will help students identify material given and it will incorporate a sense of excitement. There are a lack of resources at my school and I have to copy leveled readers.
This project would significantly help my students' understanding that education is more than black and white.
My school doesn't have a colored printer for our use. Color makes education fun, exciting and inviting to students. Color is another way that I can differentiate the learning experience for students.
