Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day my students walk into our classroom full of excitement. They are ready to fill their little minds with lots of big knowledge. My first graders are full of questions and curiosities.
These amazing little people make every single day an adventure.
We spend our days reading, writing, singing, learning all sorts of ways to do math and about the world around us. They come from a variety of backgrounds and have their distinct personalities, and together we make a dynamic classroom community.
My Project
First graders love to get their hands on interesting learning materials. All of these items will help increase engagement in small group and literacy center learning time. Colorful pens and stamp pads help make sight word practice more fun. Toobaloo whisper phones will help with fluency while reading in a small group.
What stories will LEGO inspire?
Imagine a first-grader building a scene to inspire a story. I'm asking for a Creative LEGO Brick set, baseplates, and a community minifigure set for these activities. This hands-on approach will engage even the most reluctant of writers. They will then use the staplers to keep their stories together.
These materials will help inspire learning while building confidence and independence.
