My third-grade classroom resides in a STEAM school in Arizona.
The students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. My students thrive when they are able to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking. They love learning and growing in our tight-knit classroom. My students walk into the classroom excited for what the day holds and thrilled about all of the exploring they will get to experience. They enjoy collaborating with their peers on projects, especially when they are in a comfortable and organized learning environment. Having classroom materials that are easily accessible will allow my students to satisfy their insatiable curiosity and take control of their own learning paths. They will be able to find materials in an efficient manner which will allow more time for student engagement and improve student participation.
My Project
A tool box would work well in my classroom to use during small group work. In my classroom, we meet at a small table for reading groups, math groups, and other cooperative learning groups. Having an organizer and other classroom materials would give my students endless uses. Just like adults, children get frustrated when they cannot easily move through an environment, or find what they need. Adding this organizational tool for classroom materials to our classroom will allow students to have more learning space without unnecessary distractions. They will not have to worry about finding things they need to be successful in the classroom.
