My students are preschool students who come from diverse backgrounds. A majority of my students are also children with English as a second language. Each child comes to me with varying experiences.
They need to be motivated and challenged every day.
We are a high poverty district in which 78% of the students in the township qualify for free or reduced price lunch. I believe all children have potential and can participate in all activities. The children need activities that are highly engaging.
My Project
The materials for this project will allow the students to be creative. They will use their developing fine motor skills to create new sculptures, paintings and drawings. They can go beyond just coloring and painting.
When my students use these creative materials it helps them to develop problem solving skills because they will have to think through the steps of their creations.
The different types of paints that we have requested will be new and unique to the children which will increase their engagement in the process. It will be fascinating to see what unique projects will be created by my students.
