My students are eager to learn and love coming to school. Our school is located in a small town. My students are composed of a diverse group of learners from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Each one of them is unique and offers valuable insight to our classroom community.
The classroom is their second home, and it should continue to be a safe place for them to learn and grow.
Second graders are energetic and passionate about learning. They love hearing stories and finding a cozy spot to curl up with a good book. They learn through doing and enjoy playing math games. Each one of them is unique and offers valuable insight to our classroom community.
My Project
We are in need of a spacious classroom rug that will have a seat for every learner. Our mini lesson take place on the carpet for reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Having a rug with predetermined squares will allow for students to find a seat quickly and efficiently. This carpet is inviting and will allow for effective learning to happen. When students feel comfortable in their learning space, they are ready to tackle new learning challenges.
Students find their voices after they find a spot to sit.
Most of our day in second grade happens on the rug. Our day begins on the carpet with morning meeting where positive relationships are formed. The classroom rug helps to create a warm and friendly environment. The rug is not just a place to sit, but rather a safe spot for students to make connections with each other by working in partnerships, small groups, and whole class.
