I love my job and I feel very blessed to teach some of the most awesome first graders! My students come from many different cultural backgrounds and face many challenges in and out of the classroom but they all know one thing; that Mrs. Swepston loves and cares about them.
Our classroom is a busy, yet happy place where students can learn while feeling safe.
If you were to walk into my classroom, you would not hear silence. You would hear lots of chatter at stations where students are exchanging ideas and discussing the objectives they are learning about. You would find me sitting on the floor conversing with students and observing students who may need extra support.
My Project
Sight words are words that do not fit standard phonetic patterns and must be memorized. Sight words and high frequency words account for 80%-90% of words found in children's books. SnapWords is an amazing resource to assist students in learning their sight words in a multi-sensory way. I am also requesting colored cardstock for take home sight word cards. This is especially needed as much as we have been virtual and can be used at home. I use the colors of the rainbow and also include white, pink and purple. I have students at varying stages and they get so excited when they get to move on to the next color and level of words. It's only because of donors like you that we can do fun things in our classrooms. Thank You!
