Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 21st century learners. Even in fifth grade we look to the ultimate goal of being college and career ready. This means making good use of the technology available to us. Unfortunately, for my students, this does not include a printer.
Although they are 10 and 11 years old, my students know that the future holds many opportunities.
Living in a high poverty community, and attending a high poverty school does not, and should not, limit their potential.
Many of my 29 students do not have basic computers and technology at home. They look forward to coming to school to create tangible things. They love to see their work hanging on bulletin boards. I can't wait to see their faces when they see their work in color.
My Project
Whether it is working on creating book awards to celebrate an author's study, or creating a proposal to conquer the dangers posed to a polar bear's habitat, my students look to real-world applications of their skills. With this comes the need for some way to publish their work.
An all-in-one printer offers limitless possibilities. A printer will help students publish work they have completed on the computer. With the scanning feature, students can scan photographs and illustrations for projects as well as have ... more.
