Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an amazing group of ASD and IND students ranging from grades 6-8 with a variety emotional and academic needs. Their exceptionalities are what make them truly unique individuals. The unit is self contained and the ASD teacher and I are working in a split room. Our students are very visual and require much visual prompting for optimal success. They are extremely loving and curious with a thirst for learning. The students spend the majority of their day in the classroom with us. We provide not only academic but social/emotional/sensory learning strategies.
My Project
All of the items requested are designed to help my students with their visual and sensory learning. We have a conjoined classroom of 20 ASD and IND students who benefit greatly from visual stimulation.
The printer will assist us in creating daily color visual schedules to aid in students' progression from task to task hassle free.
The additional items will be used as motivators for our students and create a culture of support within the classroom.
Our unique learners have every capability to achieve academic and social/emotional success when given the proper instruments and support. Help us support our kids to be independent and successful learners!
