Color Printing Materials for Colorful Music Making
Help me give my students the printing materials to make effective posters and manipulatives that can be used to facilitate and enhance their music learning.
I teach music to Kindergarten thru fifth grade students in two elementary school buildings. I am a blessed teacher who also gets to work with students with special needs, including our district's Life Skills and Cross Categorical classrooms. The students in this district are lucky enough to have fine arts four out of the five school days each week.
The students at my schools are creative and energetic, and deserve to have all of the necessary materials to make the most of their music learning.
The students love learning to play instruments, composing their own creations, and making music together.
My Project
Our school district has an amazing fine arts program that includes music, visual art, dance, and drama in our elementary schools. While we have a fantastic program with excellent teachers, we do not have a large budget. That is where having a color printer to print our own visuals and manipulatives can help!
The students in my room deserve the materials necessary to make their music learning meaningful and enjoyable.
With my small budget, buying posters to use as anchor charts comes second to purchasing instruments to use in the classroom. Being able to print my own posters, in color, will not only help make our music room a more inviting space, but will also aid in music learning. The ability to print in color would allow me to color code rhythms and notes to help students more easily recognize differences. I could also print manipulatives in different colors to help in sorting for groups, or color code ukulele strings and xylophone bars to help students learn the differences by making connections and matching with colors they that already know.
Something that seems as small as a color printer would have a lasting impact on the work that I could do with so many students. If my classroom is gifted a color printer through this donation I would be able to purchase ink cartridges at the beginning of each school year with my budget.
