My students need a printer for our classroom to print all the incredible work they're producing. Recently our printer of 8 years decided it was time to go.
Our fifth grade classroom is a lively environment that fosters inquiry based learning. We believe that all kids should have equal opportunities to explore and create rich academic experiences. In order to make this a really, all students need to have access to the world of technology throughout each school day.
We have a group of 30 fifth grade students in my public school classroom in the heart of Brooklyn.
Our classroom is filled with various cultures and life experiences due to students with families from around the world. In turn empathy and understanding are naturally embedded in our classroom communities. Students are the center of our classroom communities. We encourage them to guide their own learning and become thinkers that question the world around them.
My Project
My students are phenomenal writers that regularly print their written pieces throughout the writing process. Having a class printer would permit our class to publish work with ease.
Lately, without a printer, the kids have been forced to outsource their printing needs to other classrooms.
This process has been arduous for the children and my colleagues alike.
In our classroom, we need access to a printer multiple times a day. Printing grants us the ability to create daily lessons and activities that meet the individual needs of each of our students. Printing also allows us to print projects, published pieces, homework, and lesson extensions that wouldn't be possible otherwise.
Having a class printer will increase the value of our classroom learning each day!
**Recently we published a similar project, but the printer didn't work out and needed to be returned. The refund for that project will be put towards this new project that the NYC DOE provides ink for.
