Everyone loves how easy it is to snap incredible photos on a phone, look up inspiring images, or simply have the ability to research whatever we want at the tip of our fingers. However, at one time or another, we have all experienced the need to have a physical copy of that photo, article, or image - a copy we can actually hold in our hands.
Middle school students have an incredible range of unique ideas to express through their artwork, and as their art teacher, it is my job to help them bring these ideas to fruition.
We need a classroom printer so we are able to print not only inspiring images as we create, but also print digital art projects made by my students.
How are these students going to be excited with education and lifelong learning if we can't keep up with and help develop their 21st Century Skills? Incorporating technology into our curriculum shouldn't be considered "taking it to the next level," it should be a standard we provide the tools for.
My Project
With a color printer in the art room, students will be able to scan their own original works of art. Once their work is digital, they have the ability to create entirely new works on our classroom computer, or simply build their digital portfolio. Although we value digital portfolios, students' self esteem skyrockets when they see their own art printed and displayed around campus.
Having a printer in our classroom will ensure students are able to print out their incredible artwork and showcase their talents to the entire school.
It will also allow students to print images for reference and inspiration as they work on paintings and drawings. We would feel so fortunate to have this incredible tool at our fingertips; having a classroom printer will truly transform the art room and eventually, our entire school!
