Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my 2nd and 3rd students are either Deaf or hard of hearing. Many of them need Sign Language all day to communicate with others. Because of their hearing loss, all of my students have severe language delays which affects their academics in a huge way. Although they are in 2nd and 3rd grade, they are performing between a kindergarten and first grade level.
My students have a lot of energy and need projects and classroom items to keep them stimulated.
They love hands on projects and doing crafts. My students are very special and I want to provide them with opportunities they may not have otherwise.
Thank you for helping my classroom!
My Project
My students rely heavily on visuals due to their hearing loss. When a new concept is introduced, it is always paired with a picture so they can remember and visualize the idea. I like to incorporate a lot of visuals into my lessons so my students can connect the concept to a picture. Once they have a clear, and colorful, picture in their minds, they are more likely to remember it. We had a color printer but it broke so this would be great to have! This printer will help in so many ways to give my special students what they need and deserve!
