Our classroom family consists of 22 cheerful and determined Kindergarten students. My students are bilingual, they are acquiring the English language and fostering their native language Spanish.
Many of my students are newly arrived to the United States and they are an eager group of amazing students who strive to learn English and adapt to the culture.
All or most students come from low-income households.
My Project
Color pictures will help my English language learners make abstract ideas as concrete as possible which in turn clarifies the meaning of words and increased understanding. When you learn a language you can feel disoriented and anxious. Visuals are an important tool used to connect students prior knowledge with current content.
The color printer will give my students access to color visuals which are vital tools in language acquisition as it increases students comprehension, reduces their anxiety and boots their self-esteem.
My students will be able to create stories using vocabulary words and see them come to life in color.
